This project contributes to current calls in the field of Spanish language education for the legitimization of the linguistic and cultural practices of Spanish-speaking communities in the US. Specifically, this study examines the impact of a curricular reconfiguration that places US-Spanish speakers and their communities in a central position of Spanish programs in higher education institutions. The ultimate goal of this and subsequent studies is to identify ways in which changes at the instructional level might contribute not only to better and more robust learning outcomes but also changes in attitudes towards minoritized communities.
