Supports the production and distribution of digital projects, films, television programs, radio programs, and related programs that promise to engage the public.
Enable media producers to collaborate with scholars to develop humanities content and to prepare programs for production. Formats include 1) Interactive digital material, 2) Film and television projects, and/or 3) Radio projects. Grants should result in a script or a design document.
A range of fellowships are available for researchers to conduct research in India for up to nine months: 1) Senior Research Fellowships, for South Asia specialists; 2) Professional Development Fellowships, for established scholars in other fields; and 3) Creative Arts Fellowships, for practitioners of Indian arts who would benefit from time in India.
Supports the creation of an interdisciplinary research network designed to reduce the 'word gap', the gap in exposure to language among children from low-income families, as compared to children from higher-income families. The research network will foster scientific collaboration, with a focus on research designed to develop and test interventions to improve early language exposure, vocabulary acquisition, and language development for children from lower socioeconomic status (SES) backgrounds.
Supports projects such as websites, mobile applications, games, and virtual environments that significantly contribute to the public’s engagement with humanities ideas. Projects must be analytical and deeply grounded in humanities scholarship in a discipline such as history, religion, anthropology, jurisprudence, or art history.
Supports documentary films that examine international and transnational themes in the humanities. These projects are meant to spark Americans’ engagement with the broader world by exploring countries and cultures outside of the United States. Proposed documentaries must be analytical and deeply grounded in humanities scholarship. Funding is available at Development and Production levels.
This fellowship is intended as a supplement to other support the scholar may have. Most Sproul Fellows recently have been Visiting Scholars, either with Canadian Studies or with another unit on campus. The Fellow will be expected to attend Program activities and to give at least one presentation on a Canadian topic while in residence.
Fellowships support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both. Recipients usually produce articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources in the humanities. Projects may be at any stage of development.
Funds a research-focused initiative to increase the safety of schools nationwide. This wide-ranging initiative will bring together the nation’s best minds to research the root causes of school violence, develop technologies and strategies for increasing school safety, and provide pilot grants to test innovative approaches to enhance school safety across the nation.
Research projects related to agricultural production or other social, economic, or policy-related topics of concern to organic farmers and/or ranchers.
