Spiritual songs based on scriptural and apocryphal traditions are well known among both Russian Christian and Muslim Tatar folk literature. By bringing together a transdisciplinary team of specialists in Turkic and Slavic music and literature, they plan to create a scholarly, on-line edition of Tatar and Russian spiritual songs that will demonstrate the multiple connections and dependencies between these two peoples. PIs also will complete a definitive edition of the unique musical and literary heritage of the Russian Spiritual Christian Molokans of Arizona.
