Working Groups
In order to facilitate networking, information sharing, and resource development the IHR is seeking to bring together researchers around themes that have been identified as areas of strong or emerging interest. The initial steps will include development of a distribution list for each topic and a networking or workshop session. We plan to develop the following pages to serve as resources for interested scholars.
Sustainability continues to be a significant area of interest for humanities scholars. An undergraduate certificate in environmental humanities is now available. A distribution list was developed as a result of the two-year IHR Faculty Working Group on Humanities and Sustainability, but we welcome new members.
Geospatial Data Tools in Humanities Research
A series of workshops will be scheduled in the spring 2010 semester for those interested in using GIS/geospatial tools for your research. The first session, tentatively planned for early February, will focus on information presented at the NEH Advanced Digital Humanities Workshop at the University of Virginia.

Documenting Endangered Languages/Linguistics
Our first planning session will be Monday, 11/23 at 9:30 in SS 109. In addition to introductions, we will develop a preliminary list of questions and topics that we would like Susan Penfield to cover in her workshop. Penfield, NSF Program Officer for DEL, will conduct a regional workshop at ASU on Friday, 2/26.
Place Studies/Place Meanings/Place Attachments
Place has been a significant theme through several years of Fellows projects as well as the focus of several grant submissions, seed grants, and research clusters.
