IHR Grants & Awards

The IHR aims to foster innovative transdisciplinary research as scholars examine significant social and cultural issues through a humanistic lens. In doing so, the IHR supports humanities scholarship and research by facilitating and funding a variety of programs:

  • Research Clusters – designed to enhance interdisciplinary research and communication among  ASU scholars, these groups receive modest financial support for their research themes and present a public lecture, roundtable, or symposium that highlights their work.
  • Seed Grant Program – offered to junior and senior faculty, these awards – of up to $12,000 – help faculty further advance their research and develop proposals for additional external funding opportunities.

  • Fellows Program – organized around an annual theme, this program provides research funding for two ASU faculty teams (of up to three members), two visiting fellows, and two graduate fellows.
  • How-To Programs for Faculty – designed to help faculty gain external research funding, these services include grant writing, budgeting and proposal planning assistance, as well as annual information sessions with granting agencies.
